Colonel Byrd was a true southern gentleman and a great officer. I worked with him at Scott AFB about 1995 when I was a Capt. I valued his advice and I enjoyed working with him.
I knew Ken briefly through work with the Aberdeen Library committee and his recent run for office. He was a true gentleman, a devoted servant of Aberdeen and a total delight to know. I was truly shocked and saddened when I saw the news of his death. Some people merely try to make an impact, Ken succeeded and in all positive ways. The state is lacking because of his passing. My deepest sympathy go to his family and close friends. I am so very glad that I knew him even a little.
It was an honor to know Ken through the constitution of the ne Academy of Moore. At our first meeting it felt like I was talking with a long time friend.I will miss the gentleman.
Prayers are with the family.
