Ralph Edwin Johnson
June 12, 1924 ~ July 11, 2019
Mr. Ralph E. Johnson of Southern Pines passed away at his home in Southern Pines Gracious Living on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at the age of 95.
Mr. Johnson was born in Henry County, MO on June 12, 1924, to the late Lewis Carl and Martha Odel Johnson. Ralph was an avid golfer and outdoorsman and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and then continued to work for the Department of Defense in Human Resources. Along with his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Dale Curtis Johnson and his brothers, Lewis and Marvin Johnson. He was a member of Pinehurst United Methodist Church.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mona Johnson of Southern Pines; his son, Larry Johnson and his wife, RaVonna "Ronnie" Johnson of Pinehurst; his grandchildren, Robert Johnson and his wife, Heather of Jacksonville, NC and Michael Johnson of Bakersfield, CA.
A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at the Pinehurst United Methodist Church, 4111 Airport Rd, Pinehurst, NC 28374, with Senior Pastor David Beam officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pinehurst United Methodist Church Endowment Fund and/or the American Foundation for the Blind.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mona and the rest of the family. Ralph was such a bright spot helping hold down the “first row” at PUMC. We will miss him dearly, but know he is making heaven an even nicer place to be.Â
