Betty Jean Hardy, 77, of Aberdeen, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, February 22, 2024. She leaves behind her family and a legacy full of love and compassion.

Born July 23, 1946, Betty was the youngest of three children born to the late Moir and Ruby Hazelwood.  In 1963, she married the love of her life, Burl Hardy Sr, with whom she had four sons. Betty spent many years working at Sandhills Community College and devoting many hours to serving the Lord at Ives Memorial Baptist Church.

Betty Jean was known for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and boundless capacity to love anyone, even if they had just met. She would help someone in need in any way she could, and if she couldn't, she would figure out someone who could. She was always ready with a smile, even in her last days. That smile and the love she always showed endeared her to everyone she met, and she will be sorely missed by many.

Betty Jean was preceded in death by her parents and brother, husband Burl Hardy Sr, and three of her sons, Daryl, Eddie, and Burl Jr. She is survived by her son, Al Hardy, sister, Lena McArthur, nine grandchildren: Elizabeth, D.J., Anna, Danielle, Brooke, Luke, Mikayla, Ashlyn, and Kaylee, three great-grandchildren: Kiya, Brynlee, and Avery, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Ives Memorial Baptist Church, 365 E. Philadelphia Ave, Pinebluff, NC 28373, at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park on Morganton Road in Southern Pines.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
