Kimberly Anne deGroot of Southern Pines passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2024, at the age of 34.
Kim was born on November 26, 1989, in Nassau County, NY, to Thomas deGroot and Melissa Murphy. When she was two, her family moved to Moore County, where she attended Pinecrest High School. She was a loving mother and cherished her daughter, Aiyanna Chamalian, and her son, Kili Rouse. She was a beloved daughter, niece, and cousin. Kim was an amazing artist; she loved music and had a soft spot for rescuing animals. She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas deGroot.
She leaves behind her children, Aiyanna Chamalian of Southern Pines; her son, Kili Rouse of Southern Pines; her mother, Melissa Murphy of Southern Pines; her brother, William deGroot; her aunts, Donna Murphy Turner of Southern Pines, Pamela Murphy of Long Island, NY, Janice deGroot Hotchkiss of Long Island, NY; her uncle, Adrian deGroot of Long Island, NY; many cousins, and her faithful dog and cats.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetic Association and/or the Moore County Human Society.
