Jimmy Mack Douglas, age 83, of West End, died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care.

Jimmy “Country Bumpkin” was a hardworking man. He served in the Air Force from 1960-1964, then went on to drive a truck for 24 years, and before retirement, he owned his auto repair shop, “Jim’s Repair Shop” at his home in West End. He loved tinkering with things and was lovingly known for being able to fix anything. 

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage, NC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the memorial service. Burial will follow at the family cemetery: 924 Summer Hill Church Road, West End, NC 27376, with Military Honors. Rev. Max Williams will be officiating. 

A native of Johnsonville, he was the son of the late Mack Douglas & Mollie Creed Douglas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Clark Douglas; sister, Margie Griffin, and step-daughter, Carol Eads. 

He is survived by: his daughter, Hope Sorrell of West End, NC; step-daughter, Jean Heard of Southern Pines, NC; two sisters, Annie Mae Angel of Lemon Springs, NC, and Maxine Styers of Johnsonville, NC; grandson, James (Michele) Douglas of West End, NC; granddaughter, Crystal (Joel) Dills of Carthage, NC; great grandchildren: Hunter, Brooke, Andrew, Jackson, Joseph, Madison, Mason, and Caiden; great-great granddaughter: Addison; 3 nephews and 2 nieces.

  1. Daddy you will be missed by so many. You with Mom now. I know how much you missed her. No more pain daddy. You are at peace now. I love you and im going to miss you

  2. Wally and I always called him Jim. Jim was a Jack of all trades. We loved Jim. He could do anything! All we had to do was call Jim and he knew what to do. Jim and I had birthdays in July and I remember he always had a big cookout to celebrate. He was a great and an even better friend. We’ll miss you. Rest in peace Jim.
