Betsy Graham Beckwith

Elizabeth Graham Beckwith “Betsy”, 85, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Penick Village in Southern Pines, NC. 

She was the daughter of the late Rev. James and Elizabeth G. Beckwith of Raleigh, NC. 

A graduate of St. Mary’s Junior College in 1960 and UNC-CH in 1962, her life was spent in service to others. First with Wake and Mecklenburg counties in Adoption Services, and later a decade in Los Angeles serving families in need with the Red Cross. 

Betsy returned to Raleigh and joined the staff of Bishop Frank Vest of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. She retired to take care of her father in his later years. 

She is survived by her brother, Jim (Linda) Beckwith of Bellingham, WA, and cousins Mary Coffield and Paul (Diane) Moore of Tucson, AZ, Tish (Milton) Parker of Whiteville, NC, and Catherine (George) Feldman of Edinburg, VA. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Raleigh, NC, at the Old Historic Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Drive, 27604.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Penick Village Foundation, specifically The Thiede Fund.
