Wayne Caroll Thomas

Wayne Caroll Thomas, 87, of Pinehurst, and formerly of Concord, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Brookdale in Pinehurst.

He was born on December 25, 1937, in Pinehurst, to the late Jesse Lester Thomas and Maggie Nina McKenzie Thomas.

Wayne graduated from West End High School in 1956.  He joined the US Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1959.  While in the Army he started bowling, which led to 65 years of bowling once a week then twice a week.  He was also a dedicated Carolina fan.  He worked in the auto parts industry until he retired.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Esther Martin Thomas; brothers Harold Thomas, Lester Thomas, and Earl Thomas; and sisters, Evelyn Martin and Lois Thompson.  Wayne is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Wayne’s nieces, Carmen Martin and Teresa Batalla would like to thank the staff at Brookdale and FirstHealth Hospice nurse, Jane for the great care and compassion they showed their uncle over the past year.
