So sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. She will be missed by many and especially by those of us in the Friends of the Library.

Carol Sheffield Black, age 85, of Aberdeen passed away at her home on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
A native of Moore County, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Sheffield and Evelyn McDonald Sheffield. Carol graduated from Lees-McRae College with a business degree. She worked in medical coding and billing at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for 31 years. She was an active lifetime member of McDonald’s Chapel Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her son Derek Black.
She is survived by her son Forrest Black of Aberdeen; grandchildren Drew Black of Aberdeen, Ashlee Balos and husband Steve of Fuquay-Varina; great-grandchildren Abel, Asher, Nathan, and Lucas
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 at McDonald’s Chapel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Judy Boroughs officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
Services are entrusted to Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.
