Barbara Louise Brown Morgan, 79, entered the gates of Heaven, and into Eternal rest on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with her sons by her side, following complications from outpatient surgery. A lifelong resident of Robbins, Barbara was the daughter of the late Curtis and Rona McNeill Brown.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Unity Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm, and other times at the home of Chris and Stacey Morgan.
To us, she was simply Mom—a source of unconditional love, unwavering support, wisdom, and strength. To countless others, she was a caregiver and friend whose influence reached far beyond her own family.
For more than 40 years, Mom devoted herself to caring for children through her in-home daycare, Morgan’s Daycare. She welcomed generations of families into her life, providing not only a safe place for children to spend their days, but also a nurturing environment where they could learn, grow, and thrive. She understood the importance of a strong beginning, and the foundation she helped build during those formative years became a lasting influence in the lives of countless children. The love, patience, and guidance she shared continue to live on through the many families she touched.
Mom was a lifelong member of Unity Grove Baptist Church, where her faith was nurtured and lived out through quiet acts of kindness, service, and devotion. Her Christian faith guided her throughout her life and was instrumental in making it through her daily life while in the nursing home.
She had a deep love for bluegrass gospel music and treasured the friendships she built over the years. Tuesday evenings at Clyde’s Music Barn were among her favorite times, where she enjoyed music, fellowship, laughter, and the company of dear friends. Those gatherings brought her great joy and created memories she cherished throughout her life.
Mom was also known for the simple pleasures that made a house feel like home. Family and friends looked forward to her famous persimmon pudding, lovingly made from the fruit gathered from the persimmon tree in her yard.
Even during the final two and half years of her life, while residing at Peak Resources Pinelake Nursing Home, Mom’s warm spirit and positive outlook never left her. She embraced the activities offered there, especially enjoying Sunday morning church services offered by her home church. She continued to form meaningful friendships and continued to find joy in the people around her. Mom had great roommates whom she loved, Betty Maness and Dot Boudoin, who she has now joined in Heaven, and currently Virginia Stone who loved our mother like a sister.
Mom taught us the value of hard work, compassion, faith, and perseverance. Her example showed us that the greatest legacy a person can leave is found not in material things, but in the lives they touch and the love they share.
In addition to her parents, Mom was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her children Ronald and Janet, her sister Doris “Jeanie” Smith, and her brothers David Brown, Ed Brown, and Mike Brown, along with several sister and brother in-loves.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Chris, and wife Stacey, and Bradley, all of Carthage, her grandchildren that lovingly called her Mamaw, McKinley (fiancé’ Jase Nelson), Kolby (Lily Jones) and Keiton, great granddaughter Lakelee Grace Morgan, and bonus grandson Kaspen, sisters Judy (Robert) Upchurch of Archdale and Nell (Dannie) Gaines of Asheboro, sisters in-love, Pauline Priest of Myrtle Beach, SC, Delores (Arnold) Lassiter of Carthage, Beulah (Richard) Ritter of Robbins, Betty Doris Garner of Robbins, and Kathleen Brown of Asheboro. Brothers in-love, Jay H. Smith of Denton, Kenneth Morgan, and Roy Morgan, both of Carthage. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank all the caregivers from Pinelake that loved our Mother, especially Subrena, Trina, Harmony, and Emma.
As her sons, we are forever grateful for every sacrifice she made, every lesson she taught, and every moment of love she gave so freely. Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on through her family, her friends, her church family, and the generations of children whose lives were enriched by her care.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s memory may be made to Peak Resources Pinelake, 801 Pinehurst Ave, Carthage, NC 28327. Please designate for patient Christmas gifts.

Barbara was so good to my Mother-in-law Betty Maness. She took such good care of her and was a real sister to her. I know they are celebrating in heaven, singing together and just listening to Jesus! Prayers for Chris, Stacy and Bradley.
