Leigh Andrews Carlyle

Leigh Andrews Carlyle, age 78, of Carthage, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

A native of Moore County, Leigh was born to the late James Edwin Andrews and Delia Blanchard Andrews.

Leigh began her working career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and later worked as a secretary for Cornell’s TV and Wren Electronics. Later, she helped her husband operate a service station in Rockingham. She will also be remembered by some for her talent in the kitchen, especially her ability to make delicious homemade biscuits for a local restaurant in Sanford. Above all, Leigh enjoyed her later years as a homemaker.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary; daughters, Andrea and Melissa; and her brother, James “Little Buddy” Andrews.

She is survived by her son, Jamie Davis of Carthage; her daughter, Shannon Childress and husband, Keith, of Sanford; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will be held at Cross Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Moore County Humane Society.
