William Henry Nunnery, 85, of Moore County, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Henry was born on July 27, 1941, in Moore County to Dan Bryant and Elsie Nall Nunnery. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and took pride in providing for his family and neighbors

Henry loved hunting deer, turkey, and fox, and he especially enjoyed fishing from a very young age. Whether hunting in the woods or deep-sea fishing at the beach, he found great enjoyment in spending time outdoors. He also raised his own pigs and chickens, enjoyed fixin’ barbecue, and took pride in gardening and growing his own vegetables. When he had an abundance, he enjoyed giving to his neighbors. His love of the outdoors and country living was an important part of who he was.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Jean Welch Nunnery, and his daughters, Teresa Jean Nunnery and Mary Ellen Nunnery.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Murphy, and her husband, Stephen, of Carthage; his granddaughter, Kaylee Murphy; his sister, Ruth Frye; his brothers, Johnny Nunnery and Chuck Nunnery; and his wife, Leta, all of Carthage.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home. A private interment will be held by the family at a later date.
