Wilton Lee Short, age 83, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Summer Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Edwin Moore and the Rev. Arnold Comer officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
A native of Moore County he was the son of the late Jack Hertle Short & Lessie Williamson Short. He was a US Army veteran and retired after 45 years of service with NAPA Auto Parts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Short.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mae Oiler Short; a daughter, Diane Matthews & husband, Wayne of Sanford; four grandchildren, Travis Matthews & wife, Bridget of Sanford; Justin Matthews of Sanford; Lee Short & wife, Valerie of Missouri; Lori Beth Hawkins & husband, Tim of Florida; two God-children, Megan Hardy & Martha Hardy of Carthage; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage.
