Dixie Lassiter Lewis 87, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Reverend Tal Madison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Lewis was a native of Montgomery County. Dixie worked in Civil Service in Charlotte, NC during World War II. Following the war she married her high school sweetheart, Everette Lewis, they owned and operated several Piggly Wiggly store throughout North Carolina for many years. She loved music and played the piano at both Bensalem and Tabernacle United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Dixie was a daughter of the late
W. C. 'Bill' and Desma Ballard Lassiter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Lewis Sr.
Dixie is survived by sons: Gene Lewis and wife, Kathy, of Robbins, Gary Lewis and wife Terri, of Robbins, daughter: Gwyn Pickle and husband, Robert of Robbins, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brothers: Carlton and Harold Lassiter, both of Lillington.
The family will receive friends following the funeral service at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall and at other time at the home of son, Gene Lewis.
