Billy Mercer, age 68 of 1008 Sunset Drive died Saturday (May 26, 2007) at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church conducted by Pastors Eugene Ussery and Jimmie Phillips. Burial will follow with military honors in the church cemetery.
A native of Trenton, NC he was a son of the late George F. and Ruth Metts Mercer. A brother George F. Mercer, Jr. also preceded him in death. He was a US Air Force veteran and an avid outdoorsman. He worked for 20 years with Daniels Construction and then for himself with Mercer Construction.
He is survived by: his wife of 38 years Alice Faye Nall Mercer; daughters Felicia M. Phillips and Brenda Lee Stutts both of Carthage; sons Tommy Stutts and Billy Mercer, II both of Carthage; sisters Nell Meadows and Marie Antwine of LaGrange, NC, Dorothy Blevins of Soddy Daisy, TN; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the residence.

I attented school both at Trenton and Jones Central as well as Trenton Baptist Church with Billy. I wish to express my sympathies to you and your family. I will be remembering you in my prayers.
I am sorry to hear about Mr. Mercer passing, but I know that he is in a better place now and not suffering. I enjoyed speaking to him when I worked at the bank in Carthage. I will miss him. Please let me know, if I can help in any way.
