Ralph Alan Grinter

Ralph Alan Grinter died on March 9, 2014 at his home in Southern Pines, North Carolina. He was 83 years old.

Born on November 7, 1930 in Hammond, Indiana to Charles and Deborah Grinter, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnne Goff Grinter of Southern Pines, two children Richard Charles Grinter of Dallas, Texas, Karen Lee Finegold of Southern Pines, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Grinter was a 1953 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Following military service he joined IBM Corporation and then worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as one of its earliest employees. He then served as Chief Information Officer for several large corporations before retiring to Pinehurst, North Carolina in 1990. He and his wife were residents of the National Golf Club for sixteen years before moving into the Belle Meade retirement community in 2006.

A private family memorial service will be held at the Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Humane Society of Moore County, PO Box 203, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
