Joe Dalton Cheek 79, went to be with the Lord, Friday February 6, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, February 9, 2015 at Union Grove Baptist Church, with the Reverend John Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Dalton was a native of Moore County, born February 13, 1935. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Dalton was a former Correctional Officer and Law Enforcement Officer. He owned and operated 705 Mobile Home Park and Sales.
Dalton loved the Lord. He was a past Deacon at Dover Baptist Church for 18 years and was currently attending Acorn Ridge Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Robbins Rescue Squad. He loved and supported the many Bear Creek Kayak events including the Annual Bearathlon. Dalton enjoyed motorcycles, antique cars and old guns.
Dalton was a son of the late Shellie Joe “Bill” and Stella Baldwin Cheek and was preceded in death by son; Gary Dalton Cheek.
Dalton is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years Carolyn; daughters: Connie Burns and husband Victor, of Carthage, Cindy Monroe and husband Bryan, of Robbins; grandchildren: Jessica Burns, Lindsey Burns, John Scott and wife Haley, Ashton Monroe, Carly Monroe; great grandson: Dalton Scott; sister: Velna Brady, brother: Jerry Cheek..
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
