Betty Craven , age 89, of Southern Pines, NC, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Transitions LIfeCare in Raleigh, NC.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 26, 2015, starting at 1:00 pm, at Powell Funeral Home and Crematory, 160 East New Hampshire Ave., Southern Pines, NC, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm in the Powell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated Reverend Thomas Sweeley. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Cemetery in Southern Pines.
Raised in Asheboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Ernest Ridge and Mary Hancock Ridge. She and her husband, the late Thomas Sumner Craven, moved to Southern Pines in 1954, where she worked for Roland McKenzie and his family as an administrative assistant for many years. She was also a lifelong member of Southern Pines United Methodist Church.
　
She is survived by her sons, Tommy (Nancy) Craven of Raleigh, NC and Bill Craven of Southern Pines, NC, as well as four grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
