Betty Cockman Smith 83,  died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family.

 

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Browns Chapel Christian Church, with the Reverend Jeff Karnes, Reverend Gary Waisner, and Reverend Ralph Smith, Jr.  officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Betty loved the Lord and reading her Bible. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.  She was a wonderful cook and did word search puzzles. Betty worked in the textile industry and retired from Carthage Fabric, Inc.

 

Betty was preceded in death by parents: Burley Lester and Mary Alice “Mamie” Garner Cockman; husband Ralph H. Smith, Sr.; sisters: Joanne Cockman, Mary Lynthacum, Jessie Bell Pope, Luella Sullivan; brothers: Robert, Leonard, Fred and Billy Ray Cockman.

 

Betty is survived by daughter: Cathy Davis, of Robbins, Sons: David E. Smith, of Robbins, Ralph Smith Jr. and wife Kathy, of Carthage;  grandchildren: Amy Shelton and husband David, of Bennett, Crystal Chriscoe of Robbins, Josh Smith and wife Amy of Siler City, Megan Dagenhart and husband David, of Raleigh; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters: Estelle Patterson, of Carthage, Janie Moore, of Robbins, Mozelle Cooper, of Sanford; brother: Ralph Cockman, of Robbins,

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, July 27, 2015 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

 

Memorial may be made to: Browns Chapel Christian Church, 608 Browns Chapel Church Road, Robbins, NC 27325.  

 

Kennedy Funeral Home is assisting the Smith family.
