Thomas Leon Greenwood

Tom was born Nov 27, 1931 in Indianapolis IN to the late Thomas Martin and Audrey Elizabeth Greenwood.
Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Smith Greenwood, children Gayle Whitlock of Lake Ridge, VA, Scott Greenwood of Cary and Lynn Edgar of Durham; five grandchildren Bennett, Andrew and Brooke Whitlock, Jessica Edgar and Nora Yechou and great grandson Hasting.
Tom was a member of the 158th US Army Band in Ft Knox, KY. Tom was the first member of his family to graduate from high school. He went on to complete his Bachelors and MBA from the University of Indiana where he was a member of the marching band.
Tom was an accomplished jazz musician and played the clarinet and saxophone.
Tom and Dot met at graduate school and upon graduation moved to Rochester NY where they remained until retirement. Tom's early career included Xerox and later he served as the Development Executive for the Genesee Hospital and the YMCA of Greater Rochester.
Tom retired to Pinehurst. For the next 21 years, Tom thoroughly enjoyed delving into his interests of photography, Astronomy, Civil War History, and the arts. Tom took up golf and developed a passion for the game. Golfing and the deep friendships he made at Legacy Golf Links brought him tremendous joy.
Tom was a true gentle man, dedicated to his family, friends, and golf and had a smile and a joke for everyone he met.

Tom was such a sweet man. It was a real treat to be one of the SAS girls who had lunch with Tom recently. He was charming, witty and kind. He possessed a soul that will be missed by all.
