Ruth Marie Barger

Ruth Bryant Barger, age 90 of Carthage, died Wednesday (June 7, 2017) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
A graveside service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at Lamm's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Wendell McGee. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home from 1:30 - 2:30.
Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Ellis Bryant and Ida Maude Key Bryant. Ruth’s first job out of high school was with the FBI as personal assistant to J. Edgar Hoover (former director of the FBI). She later retired as a finance manager for the Federal Credit Union in Virginia. After moving back to Moore County, she worked as bookkeeper for the Carthage Co-Op.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred “Winnie” Barger; brothers and sisters Herman Bryant, Ralph Bryant, Rose Denny, Mildred Russell, Tennie Kelly, Wilma Turberville, Billy Bryant and Frank Bryant.
She is survived by her brother Charles Bryant and wife Margie of Aberdeen; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved dog, Shadow.

We lost laughter in this world with the loss of Ruth, but Heaven’s gain means we can all rejoice forever. I just think of her and smile, and that is very telling because it has been 30 or more years since I was in her presence physically. We love you Ruth
