Amanda Duncan 49, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at UNC Hospice House, Pittsboro, NC, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Community Friends Church, Carthage, NC, with Dr. Kenneth McNeill and Pastor Chris Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Amanda’s joy was always her family. She loved the beach, cooking and all their family trips. She put her faith in Jesus and tried to share a positive attitude with everyone. She was a teacher that loved each student and each class she taught. Amanda believed in student responsibility and that every child had the ability to learn and succeed. She was a Teacher of the Year recipient. Amanda was the daughter of the late James”Jim” Duncan.
Amanda is survived by daughters: Jessica Brown and husband Matthew, of Bear Creek, Morgan Oldham, of Bear Creek; son: Taylor Oldham, of Bear Creek; mother: Kay Miller, of North Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers: Mitch Duncan and wife Pam, of Robbins, Chris Duncan and wife Pam, of North Myrtle Beach; many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the homes of her son,Taylor and brother, Mitch.
Memorial may be made to the UNC Hospice House, 100 Roundtree Way, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Mrs. Oldham (as she was addressed when I had her) was one of my favorite teachers. She pushed her students to take responsibility for the choices they made. She has been a great influence on my own teaching and relationships with my students.-
