Johnny Russell “Bud” Hussey, 86, passed away Thursday, December 19th, 2019 peacefully at his home.

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 22nd, 2019 at Smyrna United Methodist Church where he was a member, with Reverend David Woodhouse and Reverend Edwin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Johnny was a native of Moore County, North Carolina. He graduated from Westmoore High School. He Served his Country in the United States Army. Johnny worked in the auto body repair business as a young man and then for Ithaca Industries where he retired after 25 years. He loved the outdoors, Quail hunting, caring for cows, beekeeping, and growing all kinds of vegetables in his garden. Johnny was a talented furniture refinisher and loved to share his talent by refinishing rocking chairs, stools, and trunks for his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was a good neighbor who shared his honey and fruits of his garden with many. He was a man of few words but faithful in all his actions.

He loved his family and was especially proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Johnny was a son of the late Ossie and Mary Lambert Hussey and was preceded in death by sisters: Rachel Garner, Blanche Caviness; brother: Jerry Hussey.

Johnny is survived by his wife Margaret; son: Randy and wife Tina; daughter: Marcia Gallo and husband Anthony; grandchildren: Traci Maness and husband Brad, Whitney Pickle and husband Josh, Nicholas Gallo, Rachel Gallo; great grandchildren: Isaiah, Josie, and Jack Maness; Kinley and Kason Pickle; sisters: Cora Mullins, Estelle Garner, Grace Jones, Louvene Seawell; brother: James Hussey; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 21st, at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins, NC from 6-8pm.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Robbins Area Christian Ministries. P.O. Box 97, Robbins, NC 27325; The Children and Youth Ministries of Smyrna United Methodist Church, 203 Smyrna Church Road Robbins,NC 27325.
