RG Wadsworth, age 77, of Carthage passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020. 

RG was the seventh generation of Wadsworth’s in Moore County. Farming and Agriculture was a life long enjoyment of RG’s. He was very active in political and community affairs. He was selected Moore County Outstanding Farmer of the Year, Family Farmer of the Year, and Conservation Farmer of the Year. He was elected and appointed to several USDA, agricultural and political committee’s. RG served on the board of the Tobacco Warehouse co-op in Carthage, Moore County Farm Bureau as well as Central Electric co-op. RG worked for the USDA, he was a Crop Adjuster and Insurance Agent for Federal Crop Insurance. RG loved the history of this community and telling stories of the “old days”. RG was most proud of his family and all of their accomplishments. RG was a faithful member of Union Presbyterian Church in Carthage where he served as a Deacon. 

RG was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Annie Wadsworth, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  

RG is survived by his nephew Bradley Wadsworth and wife Austin of Carthage, sister Mitzi McKenzie and husband Art of West End, Brother Phil Wadsworth of Pleasant Garden and sister Shirley Allen of Carthage. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2 pm at Union Presbyterian Church with Rev. Shane Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

  1. RG always glad to see and visit, with kind words and memories of days gone by. He will be greatly missed by family and friends across the state.

  2. RG you took me under your wing when Bradley and I got married, you have looked after us and taken care of us like we were your kids! You loved Willa Grace so much and you’ll always be her “Papa G”! Watch over us and this old farm as we continue the legacy you have left behind! We love you and miss you! This isn’t goodbye just see ya later!

  4. Such a big loss for this family. What a Great man. Gentle giant. I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a wonderful mentor, friend, family man and Son of God. Some of my best memories growing up include being around RG And working in tobacco for him. RG will be forever in my heart.

  5. Glenn was a good man–one I wish always remember. I have only seen him a few times since we graduated but thought of him often. I will be praying for the family during this sad time.

  6. R G was a very nice man I remember how good he was to my past husband Wesley they were phone friends during Wesleys cemo and radiation up until his death and it meant a lot to him! Loved the video ! Sorry for your loss Bradley!

    He will be missed dearly and made a big impact on our lives as his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and he touched the lives of all he came in contact with. R.G. was love, full of knowledge and wisdom, believed in being fair and honest, he was a wise man and a faithful follower of Jesus. R.G found good in everyone he met. He had a special place in his heart for farmers and their hard work, he knew what their daily lives was like, because he had been on the same journey of a farmer all his life. Loved my dear brother!

  9. I didn’t know anything about RG until Bobby told me last night. I’m so sorry for our loss. What a wonderful man from an incredible family; a pillar of our community. Yet another wonderful addition to Heaven.
    You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
