Gilbert Coy Moore, age 87, of Star, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Ethel Brown Moore. He worked in textiles for over 40 years at Collins & Aikman in Siler City.
Gilbert loved riding motorcycles and traveling. He loved his bluegrass music, playing his guitar, and banjo.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Alma Ledbetter, Ruby Robinson, Thelma Brown, Myrtle Brown Bruce, Geneva Ritter, Roy Moore, Warren Moore, and Kivan Moore.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Stone Moore; daughters Diane Nascimento and husband Fernando of Orange Park, FL, Michelle Phillips and husband Bryan of Carthage; Dana Smith and husband Wayne of Seagrove; step children Andy Sanderford, Chris Sanderford and June Caviness; grandson Layne Martindale: great-grandchildren Danielle Sundet (Cody Bales), Corey Lee Sundet (Julianna); great-great-grandchildren Cohen, Alivia, Braylen, Noah; four step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; his beloved dog Shorty.
A graveside service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Brown’s Chapel Christian Church.
Memorials may be made to Brown’s Chapel Christian Church, 608 Brown’s Chapel Church Road, Robbins, North Carolina 27325.
Services are entrusted to Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins, NC.
