Edwin Brower,84, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at his home.

Edwin was a native of Randolph County. The son of the late Dewey and Rossie Hussey Brower.   He served his country in the United States Army.  Ed retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, was a farmer and sawmill operator.  He enjoyed hunting squirrels and rabbits with his dogs and all his hunting buddies.  Ed loved his mules and horses, and liked to plant a garden and watch things grow.  Most of all he loved his family and friends.  He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he never missed a ballgame or horse show.  Ed was a very strong willed man, who could and would do anything set before him. Ed was preceded in death  by wife, Shirley Hussey Brower; son: Toby Brower; grandsons: Jeremy Allred, Toby lee Brower. 

Edwin is survived by daughters: Sandra Allred (David), Sharon Haunhorst (Jay), Lisa Kennedy (Garry); grandchildren: Brittany Rider (Chris), Lindsay Varner (John), Emily Page (Timmy), Hannah Maness, Austin Dunlap;  great grandchildren: Tanner, Carson, Memphis, Cash, Lexi, Ellee, Aubree, Timmy, Riley, Aiden, Emily, Elijah, Lara, Layla; sister: Hazel York; special friend: Phyllis Stevens; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Service will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, February, 11, 2022 at  Smyrna United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jerome Smith and Dr. Ron Chaney officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30 PM and at other times at the home of his daughter, Lisa Kennedy.

On getting to know him I found that he cared and would give me encouragement when we met at the mill and later at Westmoore. He always told me to do things right. I appreciated that greatly.
