Mrs. Aida Rivera Jones of Raleigh, formerly of Pinebluff, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Universal Health North Raleigh at the age of 85.
Aida was born on December 13, 1934, in Puerto Rico to the late Rodrigo Rivera and Carmen Acevedo. Aida enjoyed planting and growing flowers as well as sewing and knitting. She will always be remembered as an excellent cook, as well as a very successful restaurant owner. Most importantly, she was a great wife and mother. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rodrigo Rivera, and her sister, Rosa Acevedo.
She leaves behind, her husband of 55 years, James Jones; her son, James Jones and his wife Mary Taylor Jones; her daughter, Brenda Heitz; her sister, Natividad Rivera; her grandson, Carlton Heitz and his fiance, Sara Gregory; her step-grandchild, Morgan Taylor; her great grand-child, Magnus Heitz.
A private family graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, May 25, 2020, in the Pinebluff Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. David Boroughs officiating.
Jimmy and Family, I am so sorry to hear of Aida’s passing. I remember the first time I met her and told her my married name, which was Spanish and she repeated it fluently with the correct accents. It pleased me so much and we became instant friends. You will surely be missed Ms. Aida!! Love and prayers to the family!!Â
