Bert Lee Seawell 77, died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Siler City Center, Siler City, NC.

 

Graveside services, with Military Honors, will be 4 PM, Monday, October 20, 2014 at Needhams Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Reverend James Cockram and Reverend Edwin Moore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

 

Bert graduated from High Fall High School and served his country in the United States Army.  He worked  over 32 years for the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Bert loved the Lord and served in many areas of the church, as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, singing in the choir and with quartets, and as youth leader.  He also loved his family and spending time with them, he was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Bert enjoyed sports and especially loved playing golf. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

 

Bert was a son of the late Lemuel Dewhitt and Pearl Maness Seawell. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 54 years, Remella Moore Seawell.

 

Bert is survived by sons: Stan Seawell and wife Rachel, Brett Seawell and wife Wendy; daughter: Cindy Stinson and husband Mark; sisters: Nancy Maness, Elizabeth McCall; brother: Rex Seawell, grandchildren: Nathan Seawell and wife Heidi, Stephanie Seawell, Melanie Greene and husband Shaun, Matt Monroe and wife Liz, Macon Monroe and wife Sherry, Whitney Seawell, Austin Seawell Cade Seawell;

5 great-grandchildren.  

 

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Community Hospice of Siler City and Siler City Center for their care and support.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Needhams Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 359 Needham Grove Road, Seagrove, NC 27341.
