Cranford B. Garner, age 83 of Southern Pines died  Sunday , (October 5, 2014) at his home. A graveside service, conducted by Rev. Gregg Newton, will be held at  2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 8 at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen. A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Burney C. and Eula Moore Garner. He served in the National Guard and was a very talented athlete and woodworker. He enjoyed baseball and softball, sponsoring many local teams over the years. He was a friend to many and a loving husband, father and brother.   He was a General contractor and built many custom homes in the area. One of his favorite pastimes was cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Garner and a brother, Bryce Garner. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Greene Garner and daughter, Renee Garner of Southern Pines; sisters, Burlein Fortner and Shirley Cox, both of Southern Pines, and Pat Branch and husband, Woody of Greensboro. Memorials may be made to the Cranford Garner Memorial Fund, at any Wells Fargo bank branch. Powell Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Garner family. Condolence: PinesFunerals.com
