David Alexander Dowd, age 82, died Wednesday at his residence.
A funeral service is planned for 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday in the church fellowship hall.
A native of Moore County, he was the son of the late Peter Dowd and Fodie Seawell Dowd. He owned and operated Dowd's Nursery. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Robert, Henry and Charles Dowd; sisters, Maude Frye and Frances Baber.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Roberts Dowd; daughter, Karen D Salyer & husband, Keith; sons, Todd Dowd & wife, Candace and Eric Dowd & wife, Candace all of Carthage; six grandchildren, Lauren Salyer, Tyler Salyer, Dalton Dowd, Kolby Dowd, Kaine Dowd and Caleb Pruitt; one great-grandchild Weston Alexander Salyer; sister, Betty Davis of Pinehurst and brother, Jimmy Dowd & wife, Pearl of Carthage.
