Derrick Maurice Smith, age 44, of Aberdeen died Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
The body will lie in state on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from the hours of 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Carthage Elementary School Auditorium. Burial will follow at Stone Cemetery.
A native of Moore County, Derrick was the son of Jerrold & Alma Boler Smith. He was a graduate of Union Pines High School.
Survivors in addition to his parents are his wife, Edrian McKinney Smith; children Juanita Evans (Joshua), Sha-Mecca McKinney; Lacresha Richardson all of Aberdeen and Marquis McKinney of Southern Pines; a sister, Toni Smith of Sanford; two brothers, Jerrold Smith, Jr. (Belinda) and Michael Smith (Lillian) both of Carthage and five grandchildren.
