Elaine Moore Stewart, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Gordons Hospice House, Statesville, NC. 

 Elaine was a lifelong resident of Moore County. She was a 1964 graduate of Elise High School.  She was a homemaker, who loved caring for her home and family. She loved baking and crocheting, and used those talents to make gifts for her family and friends.  Elaine was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.  Elaine was very proud of all her children and grandchildren. She was a daughter of the late Alton Benjamin and Vinia Allen Moore and was preceded in death by husband of 58 years, C J Stewart; brother; Nehemiah Moore; sister: Ester Moore. 

Elaine is survived by children; Wendy Stewart Pruitt (Mark) of Reidsville, NC, Seth Stewart (Christine) of Mocksville, NC, Marshall Stewart (Diane) of Statesville, NC, Martha Stewart Tolksdorf (Axel) of Greensboro, NC, Mark Stewart (Lisa) of Concord, NC; 11 grandchildren: Collin and Ivy Claire Pruitt, Luke Stewart, Matthew, Jacob, and Benjamin Stewart, Challie, Caroline, and Camilla Tolksdorf, Gezadiah and Serenity McCorkle; brothers: Alan Moore, Laddie Moore; many nieces, nephews and friends.

The body will lie in state on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 11 AM to 1 PM, at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, NC. Interment will take place at Browns Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.

  3. Elaine was a sweet lady and neighbor that visited often , always bringing a cake or pies. She was a great cook. Elaine loved to talk about her kids and her brother’s and sister. I loved when she called me when my parents John and Frances McCall passed away and then CJ. She would talk and talk. Then I lost touch with her. Her kids had her in Statesville. Now she’s in Heaven. I know she’s celebrating now oh how happy she is.

    Echoed whispers went ever so softly down the pathways, of joyful times and laughing times; of many bright and sunny days.
    The tears will remain with those who grieve, they shall dry on their cheeks before the dawn.

    But only happy memories of Elaine Moore Stewart shall remain to touch the hearts of her friends and family; her legacy journey has been completed at the heavenly gates of heaven.

  10. I have known Elaine since we were in high school. She has always enjoyed life. Always laughing. She and C J were truly soul mates. She loved her family. She also loved baking cakes to share for whatever occasion. She is with her beloved C J now and no longer in pain. My sympathy to her family and friends.
