James Levis Maness

James “Jake” Levis Maness, 77, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at FirstHealth Hospice House, surrounded by his family. 

Jake was a son of the late James Lester and Blanche Marley Maness, born November 29, 1947. He enjoyed fishing, hearing the hounds on a chase, fellowshipping with the hunters, word search puzzles, old Western movies and watching Duke basketball.   He liked all the activities around the farm, especially  watching all the cows and ducks.  He attended Robbins First Wesleyan Church as long as his health allowed.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by caregivers: Laney and Nellie Marley.

Jake is survived by caregivers:  Larry and Brenda Marley; Erik and Dawn Marley, their children: Bailea and Lana Marley; many other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2025 at Kennedy Funeral Home, with Pastor Dave Wensil officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends (Casket Closed) prior to the service beginning at 1 PM. 

Special Thanks from the family is extended to the staff at Autumn Care of Biscoe and  FirstHealth Hospice for the love and care they provided to Mr. Maness.
