James Russell Dowd, 81, of Carthage, passed away on October 15, 2020 at Peak Resources at Pinelake in Carthage, NC.
He was born on December 6, 1938 in Moore County to the late Peter and Fodie (Seawell) Dowd. Jimmy worked most of his life in the nursery and landscaping business.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 58 years, Annie Pearl Dowd, sisters: Maude (Mack) Frye and Frances (Ray) Baber; brothers: Harold (Josephine McCaskill) Dowd, Henry (Eva Barber) Dowd, Robert (Eva Richardson) Dowd, Charles (Joan Nall) Dowd, David (Ann Roberts) Dowd; and brother-in-law Leo Davis.
James is survived by a sister: Betty Ann Davis of Pinehurst, NC; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The body will lie in state on Sunday from 12:00 -5:00 PM at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lee officiating.

You and Pearl are missed. I am glad you are with Mama and Daddy. Will always remember those beach trips every year, celebrating all the holidays together, spending the night, going to Jimmy’s Seafood, etc. We did so much together. Love you both so very much.
