Joel Pratt Stubbs, age 84 died Saturday (September 29, 2012) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Culdee Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Joseph Washburn. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Interment will be private.
Born in Jackson Springs on October 20, 1927, he was the youngest son of the late William Laburn Stubbs and Nettie Fletcher Stubbs. He was a graduate of West End School and a US Army Veteran. He worked at Gulistan Carpet and for many years in construction throughout Moore County.
He is survived by: daughters Betty Jo (B.J.) Craft and husband Bill of Myrtle Beach; Merry Rickman and husband Ronald Arisohn of Aberdeen, Leslie Stubbs of West End; brother W.A. (Albert) Stubbs and wife Doris of Florence, SC; a grandson Jeremiah Alexander Rickman; nieces and nephews.

Joel had two other grandchildren by BJ Stubbs from her first marriage: Joel Fredrick Hurst and Heather Leigh Hurst Brockie of North Carolina. I’m not understanding why we were not put into the obituary as well as surviving family.
