Larry 'Bud' Atkins Edmonds, age 70, of Broadway died Saturday at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Carthage First Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Rick Martindale. Military Honors will be presented in the church during the service. The family will recieve friends following the service in the Family Life Center.
He was a son of the late Jonah and Cleo Atkins Edmonds of Pinehurst. A 1960 graduate of Pinehurst High School, he joined the US Army in June 1960. He was honorably discharged and transferred to the Army Reserve in June 1963. Coming back to North Carolina, he worked for twenty-two years at Twin-City Laundry and then worked for twenty years as a tool salesman at Lowe's Home Improvement in Sanford until his retirement in 2009. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Ellis Edmonds.
He is survived by two sons, Lawrence 'Lee' Edmonds and wife, Denise of Carthage and Donald Eddie Edmonds and wife, Vickie of Cameron; three grandchildren, Justin Edmonds of Carthage; Ryan Edmonds of Cameron and April Renee Hockaday & husband, Brent of Broadway; great grandson, Grant Hockaday of Broadway; three step children, Sandy Hyatt and Charlie Ellis of Maryville, TN and Tommy Ellis of Gaffney, SC; three sisters, Joyce Childress of Durham, Glenda Williams of Southern Pines and Betsy Baugess of Burlington; a brother, Donald Edmonds of Mt. Airy, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage.
