Laura Sue Lee, affectionately known as “Sue,” 80, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 28, 2025.

A native of Moore County, Sue, was the daughter of the late Henry and Fannie Dowd Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millage W. Johnson; her two sons, George K. Johnson and Millage “Bubba” Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Patricia Malloy and Carolyn Murchison; and brothers, Roy Lee and Henry Lee, Jr.

Sue loved people and never met a stranger. Her heart was always open to those in need, and she offered love, kindness, and a helping hand wherever she could. Whether it was providing a ride, writing to those going through difficult times, or simply offering a warm smile, Sue’s compassion touched many lives. She will be remembered for her generous spirit and unwavering dedication to others.

Sue is survived by her two daughters, Ella Johnson of Siler City and Ann Brown of Carthage; god-daughter, Charlene Schwartz of Harleysville; grandchildren, Lauren Brown who also served as Sue’s caretaker, Krystal Barrera, Jessica Tuck, Raveen Johnson, Brent Johnson, and a special grandson, DeCoris Currie; great-grandchildren, Kadience, Bella, Eli, Khloe, Manny, Zoe, and Makari; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her fur baby, Roscoe.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at Fellowship House of God Church, 444 Stage Road, Carthage, NC 28327.  Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
