Leon Thompson Hussey, 71, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at his home.  

Funeral Service will be 11 AM,  Monday, April 17, 2017 at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Reverend David Woodhouse and Reverend Billy Joe Brady officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Military Honors.

Leon attended Asheboro Business College. He served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded, two Purple Hearts. He worked for Randolph Electric Membership Corporation for 36 years. Leon served as Camp Commander of VFW Post 9245.  He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He traveled to 45 different States and always loved trips to the beach and mountains. He was also a  farmer, caring for the land and his animals.  Leon was a son of the late Walter Thompson and Nettie Jane Garner Hussey and was preceded in death by infant brother: Denny Ray Hussey.

Leon is survived by wife of 51 years, Carolyn; sons: Leon Andrew Hussey and wife Lala; Dustin Quinn Hussey and wife Clarkie;  grandchildren: Nathan, Brianna, Mollie, Brantley; sister Clarice Morgan; brother: Harold Hussey and many friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Shooter.  

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM, Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home

Memorials may be made to Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 203 Smyrna Church Road, Robbins, NC 27325 .

  5. so sorry for your loss, LEON was always a sweet man when i would go in to pay my light bill when we first moved here,he would say thank you mrs.bates,so one day ,i told him he could call me pat,and he laughted and said ok patricia. he was the only person
