Lois Elizabeth Dayton, 96, died on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Quail Haven Health Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 5th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Born December 13, 1916 in Port Huron, Michigan she was a daughter of the late Harrie William Bonnah and Elizabeth (Curtis) Bonnah. Her father, a well respected architect, is credited with designing many buildings in Detroit including the Farwell Building in 1915. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Lois was married in 1943 to Edwin Charles Dayton of Kalamazoo and Grosse Pointe, Michigan. They lived for many years in Dearborn, Michigan, before retiring to Pinehurst to enjoy golf and their beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Dolly.
Edwin predeceased her as did her sister, Muriel Byrne, and her brother Harrie Bonnah. She is survived by her nieces, Stacey Bonnah De Moss (Trent), Patricia Hawkins , Maureen Jolly (Peter), Julie Dayton Davis (Ted), Nancy Dayton Gough (Peter), Debbie Dayton Ness (Duane), and Gretchen Dayton, nephews Harrie (Hank) W. Bonnah II (Suzanne), Jonathan R. Dayton, Michael Dayton (Debbie), and Tom Dayton; numerous great nieces and nephews, as well as great, great nieces and nephews; and by her friend Sue DeSpain and her family.
Powell Funeral Home of Southern Pines is in charge of the arrangements.
