Loren Joseph Yount

Pinehurst, NC Loren Joseph Yount, MD, 84, of Pinehurst, NC died May 16, 2016 at Quail Haven Village of Pinehurst from heart failure.
A private service is planned at a later date with inurnment at Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Dr. Yount was born in Middletown, Ohio, graduated the Cincinnati College of Pharmacy, and worked his way through Ohio State Medical School. He completed his general surgery residency at Milwaukee County Hospital and practiced at St. Luke’s, Elmbrook, and St. Mary’s Hospitals. He was deeply involved in the Florentine Opera, the Cancer Society of Milwaukee and was pivotal in founding the Burn Center at St. Mary’s. In later years, he worked as a Regional Medical Director for Humana, Inc. before retiring to Pinehurst in 2006. He was devoted to his wife and children throughout his life. His kindness and generosity to all knew no bounds. Loren was humble, funloving and quietly religious. He will be missed beyond measure by all whose lives he touched, personally and professionally.
He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Laura Yount, wife Carol Betty (Johnson) Yount, son Loren Yount II and oldest daughter Patricia Beth Yount.
He is survived by his daughter Karin Yount Kent, MD and husband Steven Kent, MD of Pinehurst, brothers L.H. (Pat) Yount and wife Carol of Cocoa Beach Fla., Richard Daniel Yount and wife Carol of Memphis Tenn., two grandchildren, Mitchell and Thomas Kent of Pinehurst, NC, inlaws Patricia and Sidney Johnson of West Allis, WI, and his beloved rescue kitty, Shadow.
Memorials made be made to the American Cancer Society, 2202 Wrightsville Ave., Suite 111, Wilmington NC 28403, or the Sandhills Animal Rescue League, 396 Thomas Road, Jackson Springs, NC 27281.
