Marissa Nicole McPherson, age 23, of Sanford died Friday, October 24, 2014 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

A memorial mass is planned for  3:00 PM on Friday, October 31, 2014  at St. Stephen Catholic Church.

She was the daughter of Jesse McPherson, Jr. & Vicky Helt McPherson of Sanford.  A  2009  graduate of Lee Senior High School , her love of sports led her to Letter in soccer, volleyball, swimming, cross country, basketball, competition cheer leading plus she was a member of the ROTC Raider Team. She went on to  serve in the National Guard.   Marissa lived her short life to the fullest, she touched many lives with her bright smile and never ending happiness.  To know her was to love her, she will be missed by many. 

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Jessica L McPherson of Sanford; paternal grandparent Billie Jo Cox of Atlanta and maternal grandparents, John & Sandy Helt of  Barefoot Bay , Florida.
