Marvin David Cole Jr.

Marvin David Cole Jr., “Dave,” passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Pinehurst Health and Rehab in Pinehurst, North Carolina, at the age of 71. 

Born on December 17, 1954, in Niles, Michigan, Dave graduated from Galien High School in 1974. He resided in Buchanan, Michigan, for many years, where he worked for several companies, including Food Specialties and Fapco. In 2005, he moved to North Carolina to be near his sister Ruth, who served as his Caregiver and worked for his brother-in-law at Thermal Metal Treating, Inc. 

An avid University of Michigan fan, Dave also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, attending concerts, watching television, going to the movies, and attending sporting events. He also enjoyed spending time with family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin David Cole Sr., in 1965, and his mother, Shirley (Sheeley) Cole DeFreez, in 2005. 

Dave leaves to cherish his memory his three sisters: Ruth (Jerry) of Pinehurst, NC; Marsha Bonrud of California; and Marilyn Faulkenburg of Luther, MI. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel of the Sandhills, 201 W. South St., Aberdeen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave’s honor to Sandhills Children’s Center, 1280 Central Dr., Southern Pines, NC 28387.
