Mickey Alan Strother

Mickey Alan Strother, age 62 of Fayetteville and formerly of Southern Pines died Friday (January 27, 2017) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A native of Moore County he grew up in Aberdeen and Southern Pines and was a graduate of Pinecrest High School.
He was a veteran of the US Marines and worked in the insurance business.
Mickey had many friends and was loved by his family.
He was preceded in death by his step father Clarence DeZalia and brother Ricky Strother.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Underwood Strother; daughters Loren Lawson of Fayetteville, Nina Mitchell and husband Dean of Clinton; mother Gladys Puckett DeZalia of Southern Pines; sister Beverly DeZalia Leath of Southern Pines; one granddaughter Savannah Lawson; nephews Justin Taylor Leath of Indian Trail, Jacob Timothy Leath of Indian Trail, and Brian McCoy; multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be on Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Aberdeen.
Memorials may be made to: The Pet Lodge of Pinehurst, 145 Aqua Shed Ct, Aberdeen, NC 28315 for the training of Sky's therapy dog services.
