Michael E. 'Mike' Cook, age 61 of Carthage died Saturday, (January 5, 2013) at Durham V.A. Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday at Red Branch Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. D.C. Sullivan. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
A native of Moore County he was a son of Louise Tripp Cook and the late Joseph E. 'Buck' Cook, Jr. and was a US Navy Veteran. As a young man he work with his father at the Etna gas station in Carthage and later worked for N.C. Department of Transportation, and Hobb's - Upchurch as a surveyor.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Heather Cook and a brother Randy Cook.
In addition to his mother he is survived by:his wife Cheryl McInnis Cook; daughter Kerry Cook of Robbins; step-daughter Haley McInnis; sister Pamela Stutts of Carthage; granddaughters Cynthia and Serenity Hancock.
The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00- 7:00 PM and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to: American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Foundation.

Our Prayers go out to the Cook Family. I went to school with Mike and he was always a good friend, and had a smile for everyone. We will miss him.
Mike, Buddy P., Mark and I shared many youthful adventures together. Mike was a great pal and like family to us all.
