Millie Cole

Millie Black Cole, age 86 of Aberdeen passed away peacefully, Saturday (August 1, 2015) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Doub's Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Cara Thompson. The body will lie in state beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following the service the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.
Millie was born April 8, 1929 in Charlotte to the late Carson and Florence Koon Black. She was raised in the Murdocksville community of West End and married the late Carlton Lee Cole, Jr. “Junior” in 1948.
She was a retired employee of Pinehurst Surgical Clinic where she proudly worked for 30 years in administration.
“Nana” as she was fondly referred to by her grandchildren enjoyed spending time gardening, crocheting and playing with her beloved dog Cooper.
Millie joined the Aberdeen Chapter #259 of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1963, and served as secretary for eight years as well as being a past Matron. In 2013 she received the Veterans Medal for 50 years of service. She and her late husband Junior were avid supporters of Camp Rainbow, an affiliate of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by: one daughter Sharon Hussey and husband Jimmy of Aberdeen; one son Darrell Cole and wife Teresa of Aberdeen; brothers Tom Black and wife Ann of Charlotte, Charles Black of Southern Pines; one sister Linda Dunn and husband Floyd of Pinebluff; grandchildren Jonathan Hussey, Jo-Anna Siler, Jason Cole and Sara Cole; Three great-grandchildren.

Millie was a beautiful person in so many ways. Nancy and I enjoyed getting to know her through Eastern Star. She will be missed. Deepest sympathy to the family.
