Muriel Francis Nicolson

June 18, 1921 ~ August 29, 2013
Muriel ( Sis ) Francis Nicolson, 92, of Whispering Pines, died August 29, 2013 at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines. A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 5pm at Eureka Presbyterian Church.
Sis was born June 18, 1921 in Hackensack, NJ to the late Frank E. and Irene I. Harding. Sis and Dick Nicolson lived in NJ and raised two children, Nancy and Bobby. They left the NJ area when she was 58 and they spent 27 years of retirement split between Whispering Pines and their lake house on Lake St. Catherine in Wells, Vt. Her husband Richard (Dick) Nicolson passed away in 2005.
Sis was a cheerleader and captain of the basketball team in high school. She introduced her husband to the game of golf after they were married in 1943. She loved golf (Sis won 3 nine hole club championships). Music was also a large part of her life. Sis played the organ, piano and violin. The church was also very important to her. She was a member of the adult choir and was the Choir Director for the youth choir. Sis loved reading, gardening and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are her daughter Nancy Jeanne Nicolson and partner Donna M. Borowick, son Robert Kenneth Nicolson and his wife Anna Nicolson and their son Benjamin Robert Nicolson.
