Richard C. “Dick” Schumacher, age 90 of Southern Pines died Monday.
A memorial service will be 11:00 am Monday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, 402 Saunders Street in Carthage.
A native of Dubuque, IA he was a son of the late Carl F. and Marie Vogelsburg Schumacher. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany and England and retired as a building contractor. He moved to Moore County in 1995 where he enjoyed golfing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Louise “Lulu” Weaver Schumacher; sons Thomas Schumacher of Minneapolis, MN, Gary Schumacher of Chicago, IL; daughters Margaret Adamczyk of LaGrange, IL, Patricia LaMonica of Glen Ellyn, IL, Shannon Sullivan of Naperville, IL, Gretchen Grassl of Arlington Heights, IL; step sons William Jenkins of Truckee, CA and David Jenkins of Pasadena, CA; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Services are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home.

Richard was a good person who drove a van for Chapter 83 DAV for veterans to the VA hospitals. He will be remembered for his service in the military and the DAV. My thoughts are with you Lulu .
