Richard “Ricky” Phillips, age 70 of Carthage died Monday, June 8, 2015 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

 

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday at Flint Hill Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. William Hancock. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

 

A native of Guilford County he was a son of the late Vernon and Ella Mae Jordan Phillips. Ricky was baptized and grew up in Glendon Independent Christian Church, and attended Flint Hill Baptist Church for the last several years. He worked many years at Carthage Fabrics retiring as a supervisor.

 

He was an avid bird hunter and skeet shooter. He was an outstanding baseball pitcher while in school and always enjoyed sports. He played on the Moore County Senior Softball League, where the team won a state championship.

 

He is survived by: his wife Jennie Cockman Phillips; daughter Kris Hipp and husband Dean of Southern Pines; sons Craig Phillips and wife Angela of Pinehurst and Ken Phillips of Pinehurst; sister Kathy Brady and husband Charlie of Carthage; brothers Leon Phillips and wife Peggy of Carthage, Michael Phillips and wife Patty of Carthage; grandchildren Weston and Hunter Phillips, Katelyn and Austin Hipp.

 

Memorials may be made to: Flint Hill Baptist Church Missionary Fund, 963 Flint Hill Church Rd, Robbins, NC 27325.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. I worked for Ricky at Carthage Fabrics for years. I will always remember how much he loved to play softball. My husband, Ricky Seawell also worked with him. We pray that the Lord will comfort you today and in the weeks to come
