Robert Louis Golby, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, Nov 27, 2017 at Duke Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Eureka Presbyterian Church, Carthage , NC with Pastor Julie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 PM.
Robert was born April 26, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a son of the late Isaac and Harriet Goldberg of Brooklyn, NY. He served his country in the European Theater during WWII in the United States Army. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and his MD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and in 1953, he married Mary Alice Blue, of Carthage, NC. Robert then went to work in the lab at Watts Hospital in Durham. He then worked for the State of North Carolina, as a Clinical Lab Coordinator for the Mental Health System until his retirement. Robert enjoyed photography, crossword puzzles, and woodworking, building many projects around the house.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Alice Blue Golby; his 2 older brothers: Arthur David Golby and Morton Herbert Golby.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Alice) Blue Golby and his son, Andrew Mark Golby.
