Rodwell T. Woodward, age 81, of Carthage died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

 

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Friday, May 26 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Ussery and Rev. John Chavis officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

A native of Davie County he was the son of the late John W. Woodward and Zelma McClamrock Woodward.  A US Navy Veteran he retired from Luck's Beans as a truck driver.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Marguerite (Peggy) Brown Woodward; a step-daughter, Eva Stanley; sister, Mable Wrenn and brothers, Ike, Jack, and  Arthur Woodward.

 

Survivors include his wife, Betty Whitt Haynes Woodward; daughters, Tanya Jordan & husband, Robert of South Carolina & Allyson Speaks of Charlotte; sons, Todd Woodward and Mark Woodward of Carthage; sisters, Louise Collins of Mocksville and Clair Boone of Columbia, SC; brother, George Woodward of Mocksville; step-children Joyce Taylor of Carthage, Gary Haynes of Aberdeen, Linda Grissom and Renee Wood both of Carthage; four grandchildren & several great-grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the home. .

 

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 632 McCrimmon Road, Carthage, NC  28327.
