Sandra Kay Rhoades

Sandra Kay Rhoades, age 64, passed away in the loving presence of her family, on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Pinelake Peak Resources in Carthage, NC. Sandy was a woman of determination, courage, and a heart full of happiness that shined on others in her smile. Despite being born with spina bifida, Sandy defied odds and went onto college, becoming a librarian assistant and a proud, loving mom to Hilary. In later years, health struggles would bring double leg amputation and the need to reside at Pinelake. Her family shares that Sandy is now dancing in heaven on her new legs and healed body. Sandy loved her family with a joy that was infectious, gave hugs at every moment possible, and said “I love you!” to everyone she met.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Hilary Hohnsbehn, her parents Robert and Mildred Rhoades, her brother David Rhoades and her three sisters, Debbie Knepp Bell, Lori Rhoades Wachter, and Cathy Pitt Easterling. She is the cherished grandmother of Brianne, Christina, Tyler, Sophia, and Alison.
